2025 Year in Review: IT Infrastructure & Event Support

2025 Year in Review: IT Infrastructure & Event Support
2025 was the year I split my time between two very different kinds of IT work: hands-on network troubleshooting in the field, and live IT support at large-scale exhibitions and events. Here's a quick recap.

Field work at Xi Tech BD took me outside the NOC and into client sites — including on-site network troubleshooting and device deployment for ABS Online in Chandpur and M/S Era Traders in Shariatpur. Nothing teaches you faster than standing in front of a switch that isn't cooperating, three hours from the nearest office.

Moving to CEMS Bangladesh in August shifted the work toward event-scale IT support. I supported the IT infrastructure at the 24th Textile Series Exhibition (Purbachal), the ULAB University Convocation, Power Series, Build Series, Real Estate Expo, and Water Bangladesh Expo at ICCB. Exhibitions compress weeks of planning into a few high-pressure days — networks, displays, and registration systems all have to work the first time, with hundreds of people watching.

Along the way I also picked up a few new tools: TrueNAS and Nextcloud for internal storage and file collaboration, Proxmox for virtualization, and Microsoft 365 administration — on top of the Windows Server and monitoring stack I already relied on.

The biggest takeaway wasn't a specific tool though — it was real-world troubleshooting under time pressure, and cross-cultural communication while coordinating with vendors, clients, and event organizers who all had different expectations and different levels of technical background. That combination is what actually builds judgment.
